KEAUHOU — Tommy “Kahikina” Ching celebrated his birthday on the last day of his islandwide annual Feed-A-Thon at the Keauhou KTA on Friday.

Shoppers were treated to cake and cookies while being encouraged to donate nonperishable food items or cash to benefit the Hawaii Island Food Basket.

As of Thursday, Ching collected 37,479 pounds of food at five KTA locations across the island.

“That’s great considering we lost a day to the hurricane. People still came through,” said Ching.
